Current status

Last checked: September 27, 2026. The official GoFullPage Chrome Web Store listing is available again.

GoFullPage announced on September 14, 2026 that the official extension has been restored to the Chrome Web Store, and that it is now also available on Firefox.

What happened to GoFullPage?

On August 11, 2026, GoFullPage said it had been temporarily removed from the Chrome Web Store because of a copyright-related issue, and that Chrome had also removed it from some users’ browsers. It said this was not a security issue with GoFullPage.

An August 14 update listed ways to keep using it while the listing was down: re-enabling a disabled copy, a separate beta listing, and the Microsoft Edge version.

On September 14, 2026, GoFullPage announced the official Chrome listing was back.

We have seen nothing suggesting the removal involved malware or a security incident.

GoFullPage still not working? Try these

1. Re-enable it

If Chrome disabled the extension rather than removing it, open chrome://extensions and switch GoFullPage back on. GoFullPage says users who re-enabled it during the outage should already be set.

2. Reinstall it from the official listing

If the extension is gone, install it again from the official Chrome Web Store listing. GoFullPage warns that unofficial copies claiming to be GoFullPage circulated during the outage, so avoid downloads from anywhere else.

3. Switch back from the beta, if you moved to it

GoFullPage says Premium features work on either its beta or its official extension, and recommends the official one for stability.

4. If the extension runs but the capture is wrong

That is a different problem from the listing: a header that repeats in every section, missing lazy-loaded images, a scrolling panel that gets cut off, or a capture that stops partway down a very long page. Different tools handle these pages differently, so try another one on the same page before giving up on it.

Need a full-page screenshot right now?

PageShotter is a Chrome extension for capturing entire webpages as PNG, JPEG, WebP or PDF, with no signup and local processing.

Is GoFullPage unsafe?

The warning some users saw in August may have sounded alarming, because Chrome can warn users when it removes an extension for a Web Store policy issue.

GoFullPage says the removal was related to copyright rather than security, and the official listing has since been restored.

We therefore would not characterize GoFullPage as malware or as a compromised extension based on the information available.

The real risk from the outage is the unofficial copies. Install it only from the official listing.

I need to capture a full webpage today. What can I use?

You have several options.

1. Use Chrome’s built-in screenshot command

Chrome can capture a full webpage through Developer Tools.

Open Developer Tools, open the Command Menu, search for:

Capture full size screenshot

This works well for many ordinary webpages, although it is less convenient if you take screenshots frequently.

2. Use another established screenshot extension

There are several established Chrome screenshot tools, including FireShot.

Different tools handle complex pages differently, so the best option depends on what you’re trying to capture.

3. Try PageShotter

We built PageShotter around a deliberately narrow goal:

Capture one webpage really well.

PageShotter supports full-page capture directly from Chrome without requiring an account.

Our focus is especially on pages that make screenshot extensions annoying to use:

  • very long pages;
  • lazy-loaded content;
  • sticky and fixed elements;
  • logged-in webpages and dashboards;
  • pages whose height changes while scrolling;
  • complex scrolling layouts.

Why build another full-page screenshot extension?

There are already mature screenshot products.

We’re not trying to reproduce every cloud-sharing or collaboration feature they offer.

PageShotter is intentionally focused on the capture itself, with a local editor for marking it up afterwards.

The basic workflow is:

Open page → click PageShotter → get the entire page.

  • PNG, JPEG, WebP and PDF.
  • No signup.
  • Local processing.

And if something doesn’t capture correctly, we want to know about it.

Found a page your screenshot extension can’t capture?

This is the part we’re most interested in.

If you have a webpage where:

  • the header repeats;
  • part of the page disappears;
  • a scrollable section gets cut off;
  • lazy-loaded content is missing;
  • the final image is stitched incorrectly;
  • the page changes while being captured;

send us a safe reproduction.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why did Chrome remove GoFullPage?

GoFullPage says the temporary Chrome Web Store removal in August 2026 resulted from a copyright-related issue, and that it believed the removal was an error.

Was GoFullPage removed because of malware?

GoFullPage says the removal was not related to a security issue. We have not seen evidence supporting a claim that it was caused by malware.

Is GoFullPage back in the Chrome Web Store?

Yes. GoFullPage announced on September 14, 2026 that the official extension had been restored to the Chrome Web Store. It is also available for Microsoft Edge and Firefox.

What is a good GoFullPage alternative?

FireShot is an established screenshot product with a broad feature set.

Chrome also has a built-in full-size screenshot command through Developer Tools.

PageShotter is another option if you want a simple full-page capture workflow with local processing and no signup.

Does PageShotter work on logged-in webpages?

PageShotter operates inside your browser, allowing it to capture pages you are currently viewing, including many authenticated webpages and dashboards.

Exact compatibility depends on the page, especially for unusually complex scrolling layouts.

If you find one that fails, send us a safe reproduction.
