Roadmap

What has shipped, and what is next.

Every release since the first, newest first, and the short list of what is being worked on now. Shipped means it is in the version you can install today. Everything under Now and next is a plan, not a promise.

Now and next

Images that load as you scroll

Planned

On some pages, images that only load once you scroll to them are missing from a full-page capture. The fix lets the page load everything before the capture starts. Until it ships, scrolling to the bottom of the page first usually helps. Follow it on GitHub.

Safari

Planned

Next, now that Edge and Firefox are out. Safari extensions are distributed through Apple’s App Store, so this one takes longer.

Opera

In review

PageShotter 1.6.0 has been submitted to Opera add-ons as a new listing and is waiting for Opera’s review. Until then, Opera can install it from the Chrome Web Store with Opera’s own helper extension.

Shipped

1.6.0 · Many pages at once

October 2026
  • A right-click menu: capture the full page, the visible part or a region from any page. Settings turns it off.
  • Batch capture: paste a list of addresses, or tick tabs open in the window, and each page is saved as its own full-page screenshot, with a report and a Retry for anything that failed.
  • Send to Gmail: a new Gmail message opens with the screenshot attached, ready for you to write and send.
  • A smaller popup, with All tabs and List of URLs for batch capture.
  • New suggested shortcuts: ⌘⇧7, 8 and 9 on a Mac, Alt+Shift+7, 8 and 9 elsewhere, and a shortcut of its own for Selection.

On the Chrome Web Store and Firefox Add-ons now; Edge Add-ons is reviewing it.

Firefox and Edge

October 2026

PageShotter is on Firefox Add-ons, for Firefox 153 and newer on desktop, and on Edge Add-ons. Both are built from the same code as the Chrome version, with the same features.

The extension’s code is public on GitHub under the MIT license. Every line that runs in your browser can be read, built and checked.

1.5.0 · More ways to mark up

September 2026
  • Pen and marker for freehand strokes; the marker tints like a highlighter.
  • Numbered step badges.
  • Arrows in three styles, with a handle that bends them into a curve.
  • A magnifier that enlarges small detail.
  • Your own pictures, added with the image tool, by pasting or by dropping them in.
  • Text callouts with a pointer, in a handwritten default font.

1.4.0 · Set it once

September 2026
  • Every export default in Settings: format, quality, scale, PDF page size, page splitting, searchable text and links, with a reset to factory defaults.
  • Editor defaults: each tool’s colour, stroke and text style, set once for every new mark.
  • Saving into a folder confirms that the file was actually written.
  • Headers that only become sticky as you scroll are captured once.

1.3.0 · The editor

September 2026
  • Rectangles, ellipses, arrows, lines, text, highlights, emoji and blur, all editable after you place them.
  • Layers and grouping; move, resize and rotate anything.
  • Crop without losing the original, and Present, inside the editor.
  • Images and PDFs export with your edits.

1.2.0 · Present and save your way

September 2026
  • Present: a capture framed in a browser window on a background, ready for a slide or a post.
  • Save into a folder of your choice inside Downloads. The permission is asked for only when you first use it.
  • File names built from the date, the site and the page title, so captures sort in the order you took them.
  • WebP export, and an export scale for captures too large to save at full size.
  • A plain notice when a capture finishes but still does not match what the page looks like.
  • Results open correctly from private windows.
  • Pages that keep growing as you scroll are captured to a limit instead of forever.

1.1.0 · Selection, searchable PDF and History

August 2026
  • Capture a selection: drag a box, or pick a single element on the page.
  • PDFs with text you can select and search, read from the page itself.
  • History you can search by the words that were on the page.
  • Very long pages captured in tiles instead of cut off.
  • Esc stops a capture and keeps what was taken so far.
  • Pages the browser protects fall back to the visible area, with an explanation instead of an error.
  • Faster captures of long pages.

1.0.0 · First release

August 2026
  • Full-page capture: PageShotter scrolls the page and stitches it into one image.
  • Visible-area capture.
  • Download as PNG or PDF, or copy to the clipboard.
  • Two permissions, no account, and nothing uploaded.

What we will not build

Uploads, accounts or a cloud library

Out of scope

Captures stay on your own computer, unless you press Gmail to send one in your own Gmail. A feature that needs your screenshots on a server of ours is a feature PageShotter leaves out.

Standing access to every website

Out of scope

Installed, PageShotter has no access to any site. It sees a page only when you capture it, and only while it is capturing. Batch capture is the one exception, because capturing a tab you did not click needs it: the browser asks you the first time you start a batch, and one button in Settings takes the access back.

Tracking inside the extension

Out of scope

The extension makes no network requests of its own: no analytics, no usage data, nothing sent anywhere you did not choose.
