How to take a scrolling screenshot in Chrome

A scrolling screenshot captures the parts of a webpage below the visible screen and joins them into one result. PageShotter handles that movement for you, then restores the page when it finishes.

PageShotter is live

Take a scrolling screenshot of the full webpage, then save it as an image or PDF. Nothing is uploaded.

Take a scrolling screenshot in five steps

  1. Install PageShotter and open the webpage you want to capture.
  2. Open the extension and choose Capture full page.
  3. Keep the source tab active while PageShotter measures and moves through the page.
  4. Review the assembled screenshot on the result page.
  5. Edit if needed, then copy the result or export PNG, JPEG, WebP or PDF.

You do not need to scroll by hand during the capture. PageShotter advances through measured sections, captures each visible area and aligns the sections into one result.

What happens while the page scrolls

PageShotter gives nearby lazy-loaded content a bounded chance to settle before each section is captured. It recalculates the page height as it goes and handles many fixed or sticky elements so they are not stamped into every section.

Scrolling screenshot or visible-area screenshot?

CaptureUse it when
Full pageYou need the content above and below the current viewport as one continuous screenshot.
Visible areaYou need exactly what is on screen now, including the current scroll position.
RegionYou need a rectangular part of what is currently visible.
ElementYou want PageShotter to find the boundary of one element after you Ctrl-click it.

When a scrolling screenshot needs another try

An image is missing

Set Wait for images to a longer ceiling in PageShotter settings, return to the source page, and capture it again. The wait ends early when nearby images are ready.

The page moved during capture

Keep the source tab active and do not scroll by hand until the result page opens. PageShotter needs control of the page position to align each section.

The wrong area scrolled

Dashboards can contain several competing scroll areas. PageShotter detects many app-style layouts, but if it chooses the wrong one, send a safe public test case through Support.

Check the limits before a long capture

Capture depth, single-image dimensions, WebP and full-depth PDF each have a different boundary. The full-page screenshot limits keep the current figures and explain what PageShotter does when a result crosses one.

Save or edit the result

After capture, use the screenshot editor to crop, add text, shapes and arrows, highlight details or blur an area. Then save the scrolling screenshot as PNG, JPEG or WebP, copy it to the clipboard, or export the screenshot to PDF.
